Incoming Tide 2014 (Walton Arts Center)
Approximately 90″ x 132″ x 2″ size variable
Composed of cast paper sailing blocks, plastic detritus and glass pins the floor to ceiling wave recalls Hokusai’s print The Great Wave off Kanagawa, but instead of fishermen riding the wave, a mound of plastic detritus, a product of commerce rolls into view. The cast sailing blocks reference my own love of sailing and the sea- a positive outlook towards the future.
